Athens Bio-materials Hub | Design studio
September 2022 - May 2023
The program centers around the revitalization and regeneration of the now urbanized concrete landscape that dictates Athens, Greece. The core concept involves the reordering of layers of strata placing water and vegetation at the forefront through education and skills retraining about bio-materials. The river Illoisos became the inspiration for this project, the river is now hidden and forgotten below the city covered by concrete. The exterior hydroponic columns will serve to preserve the memory of the river by celebrating and reusing water as an integral part of the building system. To continue the dialogue with nature workshops, informal classrooms and exhibition spaces encourage conversation about the transition towards bio-materials. The buildings' structural envelope is composed entirely of bio-materials, serving as a powerful demonstration of their viability and environmental benefits. COMING SOON |
Mycelium Non-uniform insulation | Design Research
September 2022 - May 2023
Research Question: How can we utilize form finding to test mycelium’s ability to create non-uniform biodegradable insulation to replace typical non-regenerative alternatives such as spray foam? Research Aim: To test and analyze through form finding and tactile growth processes how we can develop non-uniform biodegradable insulation for architectural spaces that can not use standardized block insulation. This study aims to prove that mycelium composites can replace tradition non-biodegradable alternatives. This project has a ecological focus on new materiality focusing on a small scale study looking at the possibilities of the material. |

Dissertation |How Cultural Identity Influences Perception of Space
January 2020
Research Question: How cultural identity influences the perception of space in housing: an analysis of drawing by children in Uganda and England. This dissertation sets out to discover and contrast how different socio-cultural settings impact children’s understanding of their built environment. It discusses housing in Uganda in contrast with typical domestic structures in England, which helps to contextualise the study where children’s drawings were analysed in relation to style, materiality and building form. The main body of the dissertation explores how the culture of a geographical location helps dictate a child’s understanding of their built environment. |

Modelling BA(Hons)
Throughout my BA(Hons) in architecture I have made multiple models to test both structure and form. Modelling helps me to develop my initial designs quickly and allows me to view my projects in 3D. I am also able to test structural stability and building envelope.
